bonhomeJumb

bonhomeJumb is going to be a new game that Priok and I are going to make in PyGame.  The idea of the game is that you're in a tower, that's burning, and you need to keep jumbing on platforms to get to the top.  One of the unique things that are going to be in this game is that as you go up, you'll see interesting advertisements of made-up products, which will hopefully make it more fun and enjoyable.  bonhomeJumb will have four difficulties:

  • Baboh Mode: No enemies, infinite lives
  • Normal Mode: Enemies, 10 lives
  • Hard Mode: More enemies, 5 lives
  • bonhomeMode: Lots of enemies, 1 life, if you die you start all over again, possibly some screen-blinding or upside down stuff, not sure yet.
We were thinking when you get to the top, some bonhomes steal the helicopter that was supposed to take you to the hospital, so you have to jumb on seagulls.  This might be only be in bonhomeMode.

bonhomeWalk

My bud Priok and I made a game called bonhomeWalk.  We mostly made it to test out the functions of PyGame, and now I'm pretty sure we're going to use it for bonhomeCombat, meaning that we can finally work on it once we learn some more.  Making bonhomeWalk was really fun, and it was nice to finally see something visual.  When we make bonhomeCombat, we will be using homemade sounds, just like the creators of Brink, because it's hardcore and stuff.  I'd like to note that when I was working with Python, the speed and simplicity of it was fantastic.  I look forward to working with it more.

Hey, I just got a IRC chatroom to work.  Click the Chat button on the right, and you'll get there.  It's pretty cool.

TV & Laptop

I got this cable so I can plug in my laptop to the TV, and see the laptop display on the TV.  I just got a new TV, which made it doubly-beastly.  I won't be using it very often, unless I can get a comfortable setup going.  But it would still be pretty ridiculous to use it regularly.  Anyways, here are some screenshots:

Just Cause 2 - Screenshots

Today I got on Just Cause 2 and spammed the F10 (Screenshot) button, taking about a bazillion screenshots.  Check them out, they're pretty cool.

My First Real Mod

Hey, I just made a Fallout: New Vegas mod.  It's pretty cool, and simple.  It adds boxing gloves that are highly flammable into the game.  Here's the Nexus page for it.

Even if it's really simple, it's a good start.  I'm going to be practicing mod-making more, and hopefully I'll be able to fill up our Mod page.

Fallout: New Vegas Review

Pros:
  • The whole game felt a lot more humorous and lighthearted than the previous Fallout (Fallout 3).
  • The western/desert style of the game seemed to fit right in with the Mojave Wastelands.
  • The Wasteland had a lot of variety, and more life inside of it, making me want to explore the whole map.
  • More quests, that seemed less repetitive than Fallout 3 quests.
  • Large amounts of decisions and choices when talking to an NPC.
  • New Vegas gambling.  I love gambling in games.
  • More STUFF
  • A lot of replayability.
  • Maxed Strength and Luck while using a tire iron is pretty fun.
  • I love the "gangster" feeling I get when I walk in a casino with a hidden silenced pistol, a suit and fedora.
  • Lots of factions to side with, adding to the replayability.
  • The summary that is narrated to you at the end of the game is a lot more detailed, and gave me some laughs.
  • The Companion Wheel is a nice addition, allowing me to have more control.
Cons:
  • VATs makes my character attack, and then be idle for 3 seconds, allowing the enemy to score a few cheap hits on me.
  • Unless I'm using a melee weapon, it's difficult to hit a NPC when fighting out of VATs.  Their movements are jerky and unpredictable.
  • I'm not sure if it's just me, but I prefer to accept all the quests I get asked to do, and in Fallout: New Vegas, the quest structure is somewhat confusing and not very organized, which I learned later in the game.  Although, it's fine if you take on one quest at a time.
  • Hardcore mode is not hardcore.  It's not much of a fun challenge, more of an annoyance.
  • The character's slow running is not ideal for traveling long distances, so there's more fast traveling.  Like in Oblivion, I prefer to walk/run to cities and areas, otherwise the huge world that was created feels a little pointless.
  • The radio in Fallout: New Vegas has a tiny selection of songs.
